Barely Treading Water

Deep breath.
We need more than 24 hours in a day. That’s just not enough any more.
Things have been insanely busy at work lately.  The work volume has increased exponentially. I feel like the teapot just before it starts to scream. At least the furlough days are over for now, although I expect to have Oct. [...]

I had to run to another building to pick up some files this morning.  I took my bike.  The weather was fabulous!  Clear blue skies, birds chirping, grass growing, leaves coming out on the trees.  Since I was just zipping from one building to another, I left the helmet in the office. I had the [...]

And yet I suddenly have one.  A big one.
Last Monday I took the day off to transplant roses.  It was part of a bigger plan.
When we bought the house, there were raised flower beds in front of the house.

Unfortunately, the bed on the left was allowing water to get into the house and the floorboards [...]

Jessie Update #2

She’s home. She was over tired and crabby.  Poor Matt had a hard time getting her to sleep.  We’re hoping she sleeps through the night.
The xray showed that the swelling was down where they thought she had an infection in her throat.  Whew.
We’re all exhausted and going to bed early.
Good night.
And thanks again for the [...]

Just when you start getting used to sleeping all night, the kids decide they’ve had enough of that nonsense and start waking up.
Last week Jessie was up every half hour to an hour one night.  She was fine after that, but Sam’s been waking up a lot at night. A couple of nights she’s been [...]

Laptop Update

The laptop is almost back from being de-virussed.  It only took 2 weeks and $200.
Just a word to the wise: be careful where you click, make sure you have updated virus (and adware and spyware) software, and make buds with any computer people you know.
I’ll get it back tomorrow and can happily continue blogging then.  [...]

A word to the wise

Compute safely. My laptop is still out. Much easier to prevent than to repair. Just sayin’.

Yup, we’re still all alive over here. I haven’t posted anything for a while because my laptop has a virus.  Still does, and the computer guru who is working on it thinks she may need to go to the bakcup discs to get rid of the mess.  In the meantime….well, y’all have a good pre-holiday [...]

We’ve all done it. Admit it.  You don’t have time to run to the doctor for every little thing.
Last Friday I had a fabulously red eye.  It was swollen a bit and just looked icky.  After Jessie got sick, I didn’t have time to run to the doctor to get something for the eye.  Matt [...]

So, we cancelled our phone the other week.  Never used it that much, had cell phones, so we got rid of it.  A week or so ago I got a letter from them saying, “Pay $X.xx right now or we’re sending a collection agency after you.”  So, politely I asked Matt if he’d paid the [...]

No, not bundles of joy. Those are ok.
We got home from daycare last night around 6pm.  As usual, I turned on the tv to watch the news.  The Tuinstra/Pacer routine is to watch the local and national news while we’re feeding the babies and possibly ourselves.
We’ve got Dish Network.  Satellite was cheaper than cable, so [...]

The weekend

Correction - Jessie’s getting two teeth.  In spite of some horror stories we’d heard about teething babies, she’s been her normal happy self. She spent the weekend practicing crawling – backwards. She can reach top speeds on the wood floors, a little slower on the rug.  Gotta keep an eye on her or she’ll speed under [...]

It’s crazy how fast those kids are growing.  I know, they’re still at the bottom of the growth chart (Sam has yet to even make it on to the chart….), and everyone else’s kids seem to be much bigger by comparison, but when you look at our kids and compare them to a few months [...]
