Matt had the morning off today and I had the whole day off. We spent our time cleaning out the house – packing up stuff, sorting through to see what could go to daycare for sale at one of their monthly sales, figuring out what could go to Goodwill (a LOT!), and generally seeing how [...]

Happy New (fiscal) Year!
Posted in Job on October 1, 2009 | Leave a Comment »
October 1 arrived and the legislature managed to get a budget out without shutting down the state. Of course, they didn’t get THE budget out, so we’ll possible (probably) go through the whole drama again in another 30 days. Same old, same old.
At least there wasn’t an unpaid day again.
After much consideration, and six unpaid [...]

I took the afternoon off today.
Things have been crazy at the office the past few weeks. I stayed late last week helping with the move from one building to another (and yep, we’re still unpacking the boxes) and had a few extra hours, so I took them off this afternoon.
Since we’ve got a lot of [...]
What’s New?

Just a couple of quick pictures so y’all don’t think we’ve vanished over here.
The kids are getting big. They’re starting to talk more. The big word lately is “helicopter.” One flew right over us the other night when we picked them up from daycare. It sounds more like “keliloper” when they say it, but at [...]

(That should, of course, be said in the voice of the magician from Frosty the Snowman)
It seems like forever since I posted something.
You know all that stimulus money the feds are throwing around? Yeah, well, it all has to be reviewed by someone. Our office reviews everything the feds are funding in Michigan except for [...]

Still employed. The governor’s budget proposal doesn’t call for closing down the state museum or library. Big sigh of relief there. Unfortunately, 23 of our coworkers are out of jobs when the Executive Order closes down the department.
The big news was where all of the pieces of the department fell. There was quite a reshuffling. [...]
Mid-Michigan Update

The piles of snow have melted over the past couple of days. The warmer weather has been fantastic. I biked to work yesterday and today and didn’t even have to wear the gloves, balaclava, or ear muffs. It was great. It’s also amazing how much better the bikes ride when it’s warm – when it [...]
Thought Friday would never get here…

It’s been a long week. It started out as a long week. Usually “long weeks” don’t get that way until at least Tuesday. Nope, this one started out crappy first thing Monday morning.
One of my co-workers got to work early Monday morning and walked over to my cubicle (I was the only one at work [...]
Rough Morning

This morning was just ugly. Sam has been getting up at night for bottles. Still. Yet. She’ll give us maybe one night a week where she sleeps all night and we get our hopes up that it’ll happen again, and then….nope. It’s not like she’s getting up for the heck of it. She takes a [...]
My Life as a Hankie

There’s nothing like getting to a meeting of about 30 people and discovering that on the way to daycare, one of the kids had used your shirt as a kleenex. Stayed up late last night to iron the bright red cotton and spandex mix shirt (maternity shirt nonetheless because nothing else fits) so I’d look decent [...]

It’s been a long, painful week.
Monday I had a meeting in Mt. Pleasant. Lunch went way later than it should have, so we got back to Lansing way later than expected. Not so bad, but it made for a long day and left very little “alone” time after work before dashing off to get the [...]

Me.
I almost took the wrong kid home from daycare yesterday.
There are 5 baby girls about a month apart in the baby room (in addition to a number of older kids that are just starting to crawl and walk). Two sets of twins and one singleton. The other set of twins are real cuties, with dark [...]

Happy Holidays! We made it through Christmas ok. Grand Rapids on the 24th, Toledo on the 25th. Hell to pay for screwing up the babies’ schedules on the 26th. There was no daycare on the 26th and we had to work (Matt just until noon), so Mom got stuck with both babies until lunchtime. The [...]
I can’t think of a title for this one.

Another week half gone! The days all seem to run into each other.
Monday I had off (I work Tuesday – Friday, 7am to 6pm), so Mom and I got our hairs cut, had lunch out, & did the grocery shopping. It was Sam’s first day at daycare (and yippee! she didn’t get kicked out for [...]

If anyone has some extra winks, please send them to us. We’ll pay for them.
So, I went back to work two weeks ago. It was great to get back after 8 weeks of watching Food Network and HGTV. Love those babies dearly, but they sure are demanding physically. Since I was still trying to recover [...]
