Miss Manners

Last night’s supper was apple and toast with hummus.  Sam was only eating the apple, not the toast. At one point when she asked for more apple, we told her she had to eat some toast first. She said no.  We said yes. She got that defiant little look she gets when she just doesn’t [...]

I took the afternoon off today.
Things have been crazy at the office the past few weeks. I stayed late last week helping with the move from one building to another (and yep, we’re still unpacking the boxes) and had a few extra hours, so I took them off this afternoon.
Since we’ve got a lot of [...]

The kids are really getting older.  They insist on walking everywhere now, rather than being carried around (whew, it’s wonderful for my back!).  So, we get them up in the morning and rather than carrying them to the changing tables to get dressed, they want to walk.
The problem with that is that Sam is very [...]

Vices

I’ve been trying to cut back on chocolate this year (not a New Year’s resolution, because that’ll be history by the end of the week).  We’ve noticed the cost of chocolate rising at the grocery store and we’re trying to cut back so we can keep the people at daycare paid (they like that sort [...]

Lasagna Night

The little linebacker ate a full-sized piece, except for what she was wearing.

Even if you add more spaghetti sauce to thin it out a bit.
I tried.  But there was just no way to get that stuff to a pureed state so that Sam wouldn’t guess she was being fed something with noodles in it.  There were still big chunks of noodle.  And it was so thick that [...]

Seriously.  We suck at this whole parenting thing.  Our biggest problem is one we never anticipated before we had kids.  Who knew it would be so hard to come up with stuff to feed them?
We originally just thought we’d feed them jar food until they could eat solid food and then we’d just start feeding [...]

Yep, we’re ok. Just too busy to blog lately.
The kids are mobile.  After Jessie just about broke her neck crawling over the furniture we were using to keep them corralled in the livingroom, we’ve abolished that system and given them the freedom to explore the first floor. A babygate keeps them out of the kitchen [...]

Dropped the kids off at daycare this morning (yea! Sam slept all night again!) and the daycare worker asked if we were in the habit of picking both of them up at the same time.  Turns out they are getting very competitive at daycare, and if one gets picked up, the other screams to be [...]

…and yet every day it seems like the same thing.
Right now we’re having a heck of a little thunderstorm. I managed to get home before it started raining. Somehow that seems so much more important when you’re walking or biking than it does when you’re in the car.
I’m also making soup for supper.  Sure, it’s [...]

Where’s the Beef?

I came across this article online while looking at something else.  For those who are trying to eat more veggies, this will give you a little motivation to cut down on the meat.  It’s an interesting read.

Sleep and Food

My whole life these days seems to revolve around sleep and food – both mine and the babies’.
Monday, one of the babes got up for a feeding around 4am. I didn’t get back to sleep after that.  Tuesday, someone got up at 3am. I didn’t get back to sleep after that, either.  Wednesday, someone was [...]

Just my opinion

Hershey’s Sugar-free Chocolate Syrup is nasty in milk.  Not even close to the regular chocolate syrup.  I wish I could drink milk plain, but I just can’t.  The things you don’t do for your kids. And they’re not even here yet.
