Happy Halloween

Daycare had a little Halloween party today. Poor Jessie missed it.  Sam wasn’t sure it was all that great of an idea.  The weather was fabulous, though.  We’ll have to get Jessie into her costume for a picture when she’s feeling better.  But here’s Sam at the end of the little parade of costumed kids:
And [...]

She screamed all day

Not that we could blame her.  Not only does she have roseola (got the rash today and the fever’s gone – yea), but she also has strep throat.   She was just miserable.  Poor little kid.  She went to bed early tonight after screaming and thrashing all day and wearing herself out.  Hopefully she’ll sleep all [...]

Jessie Update

We just got back from the pediatrician – it looks like Jessie probably has Roseola.  She’ll be home from daycare at least tomorrow.  her fever is much lower than it was last night. She’s tired and looks miserable.  She still hasn’t gotten the rash, but hopefully that’ll come (and go!) soon.
We’ve got our fingers crossed [...]

Poor little kid

So, in a recent entry, I said we tend to obsess about every little sniffle.
Tuesday Jessie got sent home from daycare with a little fever. She’s teething, so I thought it was no big deal.  A lot of nasal stuffiness, a whole lot of crankiness, and a little fever – must be the teeth.  After [...]

Matt & I were talking while eating supper (a yummy pot roast from the crock pot….kids loved the veggies!) and discovered something.
We were discussing how we really aren’t the expressive kind of couple – not a lot of holding hands and that sort of thing.  At some point he made a comment to the effect [...]

Whazzzzz up?

So, what’s new?  Sam’s been sleeping through the night better, with the exception of last night where she was up for hours.  She’s getting four molars and starting to take more steps.
Jessie’s getting her canines.  Yeah.  Two teething babies.  She’s growing quite a bit, too, and is q good bit taller than Sam.
I’ve been a [...]

Before you have kids, no one can really tell you what to expect.  Sure, they try with a nice “get some sleep now while you can” and “it’ll really change your life” but no one can really tell you what it’s like. So, you go into it blind, hoping it all works out ok.
Someone really [...]

Seven Things About Me.

I was tagged by Victoria to provide seven random facts about myself.  No giggling from the back of that peanut gallery.

I’m a bag lady.  I have never been able to carry a purse – I leave them behind everywhere and I’ve never found one I really like.  I do, however, have a thing for “bags” of [...]

It’s not like they’re leaving for college tomorrow, but every time we turn around, they look so much older.
Sam’s suddenly standing up by herself.  Almost over night she went from being really wobbly when she stood up holding onto furniture to being really steady on her feet.  The other night she was holding a ball [...]

Even if you add more spaghetti sauce to thin it out a bit.
I tried.  But there was just no way to get that stuff to a pureed state so that Sam wouldn’t guess she was being fed something with noodles in it.  There were still big chunks of noodle.  And it was so thick that [...]

Man, were those kids cranky this weekend. Not sure what the problem was, but they were definately not happy little cherubs.
Some new developments:
Jessie now does a foot stomp when throwing a tantrum.  She stands and walks well enough that she can stamp her feet alternately while screaming. Pretty impressive for a kid with a mom [...]

Seriously.  We suck at this whole parenting thing.  Our biggest problem is one we never anticipated before we had kids.  Who knew it would be so hard to come up with stuff to feed them?
We originally just thought we’d feed them jar food until they could eat solid food and then we’d just start feeding [...]

Ahhhhhhhhh.

Little Sam is sleeping through the night.  You’d think the parents would be well-rested and cheerful.  Nope.  It seems that the long-term sleep deficit is deeper than we suspected.  This morning we could barely get out of bed.
I’ve gotta say, though, that it really feels good to sleep all night again.
Sam’s doing really well with [...]

Oy.

What a long week the last one was.  First Jessie’s eye surgery, then Sam got sick for most of the week.  She spent a good part of the week unable to keep her food down. We’re still feeding her pureed food in hopes that it’ll stay down, and she won’t get formula/milk until tomorrow night.  [...]

Update

Sam was sent home from the ER last night, but not before she barfed all over Matt while she was there.
She had a dr appointment this morning and they sent us off to the lab for tests.  That took most of the morning. Little Sam held up like quite the little trooper, even when the [...]
