Time

I’ve got a whole new perspective on time.  Anytime I start something, someone small and hungry will wake up before I finish what I’d started.  I get in the shower – a baby wakes up. I try to eat something – a baby wakes up.  I try to respond to an email – a baby [...]

She’s here!!!  I don’t know what I’d do without her.
The first week the babies were home, Matt was home, too. The babies would get changed, have a bottle, and go to sleep. The whole baby thing seemed very do-able.
Then, last week Matt went back to work.  The babies both kept waking up wanting to be [...]

Bring on the Grandmas!!!

The Grandmas are arriving this weekend!!  My mom’s just coming for a weekend visit, but will be returning at some point for an extended stay.  Matt will be picking his mom up sometime this weekend and bringing her back to stay for a couple of weeks.  Yippee!!!!
The first week, the whole baby thing didn’t seem [...]

What happens when…

…you send Dad out alone to buy some clothes for the kids?
Answer: Your little girl ends up wearing a sleeper that says Prince Charming on it when the visiting nurse comes over to weigh and measure the kids.
She’s charming alright, but I’ve checked when I changed her diaper, and she isn’t a Prince.

Random Observations

The babies have been home for almost a week.  It’s been a learning experience.  A few things I’ve discovered:

If you heat up a bottle when the baby fusses, the baby will be sound asleep before the bottle is ready.
If you don’t heat up a bottle when the baby fusses, the baby will be screaming bloody [...]

Ah, sleep…..

The twins are finally used to sleeping in the dark.  We kept a night light on for them, but we didn’t need to have anything more than that on last night to keep them from screaming.  We also decided to feed on demand, rather than waking them up every few hours to feed them.  We [...]

Sleep????

Momma warned me there’d be days nights like this.
Although the kids will eat and go right back to sleep until the next feeding during the day, they have far different ideas during the night.
The first night home, they took turns crying. If one slept, the other cried.  If we turned the lights out, they both [...]

Are they breathing???

We made it home from the hospital with both girls alive.  Congratulate us, we only stopped once on the way home to see if they were still breathing.  Fortunately, it isn’t that far from the hospital to home.
We managed to get them out of their car seats and into a crib. They’ve been sound asleep [...]

Babies arrive on Tuesday!

Whew.  One of the nurses from the hospital called, and they’re releasing the girls on Tuesday, rather than sending them home with us tonight.  Our CPR class doesn’t start until 8pm, and by the time we get done with that and then spend time with the nurses going over all the things we need to [...]

The freaking out part…

We got quite a surprise last night when we went to the hospital to visit the girls.  Their latest plan is to send them home with us on Monday…both babies.  Two.  Two tiny babes.  Clearly, no one has thought this all the way through!!!!
We were thinking Jessie might come home on Monday or Tuesday, and [...]

Baby Update

I had a doctor’s appointment this morning in the professional building across the street from the hospital.  Everything checked out fine!!  While we were there, we stopped by to see the girls and drop off some milk.  We arrived just as they were going to feed Jessie, so Matt got to give her a bottle.  [...]

Sorry I haven’t updated the blog in about a week, for those of you checking it. I’ve been a bit preoccupied.
Because of the preeclampsia, the doctor I saw on Friday didn’t want me to wait until the practice’s office opened again on Tuesday to see someone, so he told me to go to the hospital’s [...]

It looks worse if you see it in person….like I did while trying on the nursing bras this afternoon.  And I was wearing a contraption to hold it up a bit, so it doesn’t bang into my knees when I walk.  As scared as I am of the responsibility of parenting and would like to [...]
